Russ just got here and showed me his own DVD! It's a 2 hour edit of a 6 1/2 hour tattoo of a SWEET train tattoo.
This is NOT for beginners! This video definitely assumes that you are already an experienced tattoo artist looking to expand your skill base with some of Russ abbott's personal theories and tricks of the trade. Click on the banner below to check it out and order your copy!
Iron Clad Productions - Russ Abbott Tattooing Workshop DVD
Russ Abbott , owner of Atlanta's Ink and Dagger Tattoo, Has invited Nick to Atlanta to guest spot at his shop after Russ heads back from his guest spot at Black Hive! Nick will be in Atlanta monday July 6th through Thursday July 9th BUT tuesday and Thursday are the only days left open!! If you're in the Atlanta/Decatur area and would like to get a tattoo from Nick, email him your idea and contact info to blackhivetattoo@gmail.com and he will get back to you as soon as possible.
All right! There are new In Progress galleries up for Chance AND Jason today!
Also, I've uploaded new pictures to their finished galleries as well!! Take some time and sift through the new stuff in all the galleries.
Nick's new 3 pictures are in the recent pics section of the homepage, but Chance and Jason have more than would fit in Recent pics, so hit the galleries. There are some real gems in there.
As usual, thanks for continuing to check out the new stuff on the site and for your support.
Russ Abbott , owner of Atlanta's Ink and Dagger Tattoo, is going to be at Black Hive Tattoo from June 30th to July 4th doing a VERY limited number of tattoos.
Anyone interested in getting work from Russ should email him your idea for what you want, where you want it, and your contact info to russ.abbott2@gmail.com.
Since Russ is already well known, he has lined up some work, but he has just a few openings left, so contact him with your idea as soon as possible because he is sure to book up quickly.
For those who are unfamiliar with Russ, treat yourself and check out his work at inkanddaggertattoo.com
Currently, Chance (904.525.6031) is booked out about two weeks, and Jason (904.316.3389) is booking about a week at a time. Don't let that fool you though. Both of these guys do EXCELLENT work. And though Nick only posts mostly larger work to the site, neither one of these guys minds doing small tattoos as well.
So, bring your lettering, kanji, roses, tribal and coverups down and set up with one of these fine artists to get tattooed.
ALSO, both of these guys love doing portraits!!!
All right, I have had a lot of clients and friends come in and say, Hey I saw your art at that Bungalow place or,hey I saw your pieces at the beach.
I have NO idea what they are talking about and say, that's not me, I do not have any art on display anywhere. Usually this is followed with them telling me how happy they are to hear it because the stuff they saw was TERRIBLE(their words, not mine)
So, it appears that there is another Nick Wagner making art in Jacksonville and is either unaware of me or does not care that people are mistaking his crappy art as mine.
Ok, that is not fair. I haven't seen this guys art, but every person without exception has been relieved it was not my stuff and told me how awful this guys art is.
SO, since I do not intend to break some kids hands over a mix up with us having the same name, I figured I would let my clients, family and friends know that if they see this guys stuff, IT IS NOT MINE.
If I have a show or art to display, chances are you'll hear about it or see it here first.
I'm even considering changing my signature on future works to Old Man Wagner to avoid confusion. After all, the people that HAVE seen him says he is younger than me and that's my old Orange Park Inksmith nickname (no pun intended). Maybe, maybe not. I will have to think about it, since I have no intention of seeking the OTHER Nick Wagner out to talk to him about it.
So, to recap, if you see a Nick Wagner piece and it is crap, it is not THE nick Wagner, it is the OTHER Nick Wagner.... hmmmm, maybe that should be my signature, THE Nick Wagner.
There has been some confusion lately about our limited public hours
We at Black Hive are open 6-8 pm, tuesday through friday, but it is not necessarily for walk in tattoos.
We are encouraging new clients to come by, see the shop, and leave their contact information with the artist they would like to get tattooed by.
That's not to say we won't tattoo you if we are available, but chances are we will be tattooing or setting up for someone's tattoo. We'll use your contact info to set up a consultation, so you can get the individual attention that you see the person getting tattooed receiving when you stop by to see the shop or look at portfolios.
While tattooing last week, I heard a woman walking down the hall tell her friend,"There's nothing to look at!"
When I asked Jason and Chance about it they told me she was with someone who came to set up an appointment. That got me to thinking though.
We DON'T have flash, but we DO have plenty to look at. Between the portfolios, reference binders, and book collection there's plenty! I guess some people just aren't getting from the site that THIS IS NOT A STREET SHOP.
If you are looking for a place to wander about and stare blankly at the walls, you're wasting your time. If you are someone who wants to sit down and tell us what you want so you can get the tattoo YOU want not just the one that catches your (and chances are a dozen other people's) eye THEN you are in the right place.
While all of us at the shop want to crush out as much work as possible, we are not the place for people who have NO idea what they want. Give us even a starting point and we'll run with it. Give us a really developed idea and we'll polish it. BUT come in with no ideas at all and we can't really help you.
